Care Memorial Cremation Is Prepared to Safely Care For Families During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Romeoville, IL – Care Memorial Cremation remains committed and prepared to safely care for the families it serves during the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Whenever possible, Care Memorial Cremation will continue to enable families to participate in the rituals that are most important to them.

“At Care Memorial Cremation, we recognize our responsibility to protect the health of those we are privileged to serve,” said John Hann, Owner/Licensed Funeral Director “We will continue to guide families, as we always have, in ways they can meaningfully commemorate the life of their loved one, while adhering to the guidance issued by federal, state and local public health officials.”

Hann continued: “Our staff remains vigilant about cleaning our facilities and ensuring we’re all following recommended healthy habits, such as staying home when sick, washing our hands, and covering coughs and sneezes. The CDC and our state and local public health officials have offered a lot of helpful guidance for businesses on this topic, which we continue to follow.”

Care Memorial Cremation specializes in simple cremation coupled with affordable pricing – this has not changed. Our policy for viewing and witness cremations will be as follows:

At this time, we will not be scheduling any viewings or witness cremations until we have a cause of death from the physician or Medical Examiner/Coroner.

If the death is of Covid-19 or related to Covid-19 then viewings will not be permitted for two reasons:

  1. To protect our staff who are handling un-embalmed remains and
  2. For the protection from family members who may now test positive for Covid-19 due to their contact with the deceased.

All non Covid-19 related deaths can be offered a viewing with the limitation that only immediate family members (limited to no more than 10 individuals) of the deceased may view their loved on and/or witness the cremation. A member of the National Funeral Directors Association (NFDA), Care Memorial Cremation regularly receives information via NFDA from the CDC, Department of Health and Human Services and other agencies about the evolution of COVID-19 in the United States. NFDA continues to lead the conversation with federal officials about the role of funeral service as it relates to the COVID-19 pandemic.

We know every family is unique and must be taken care of with their specific family needs in mind. We are available to answer any questions or address any concerns you may have.
